New Year, New Ways to Move

What are your movement intentions for 2019?



New Year, new ways to move. I’ve stopped focusing on New Year resolutions. Resolutions are made to be broken. Rather how about ongoing movement intentions that you constantly re-evaluate throughout the rather rather than only in the New Year? My body feels and craves different things in each season. As you begin this year, ask yourself how does your body feel. What is it needing? What inspires you to wake up in the morning?

Personally, its the call of the ocean. During my summer break, I woke up every morning and went straight to the beach for a swim. Sometimes I’d do Pilates or Yoga afterwards at the beach or at home. However, the thing that nourished my body the most was the feel of the cold, refreshing water. It revives me like nothing else does. Not only am I encouraging movement with swimming, the visual of the ocean calms my mind and allows relaxation.
